The Pier Bowl area is San Clemente’s jewel. It’s very busy and sometimes difficult to park (especially on major weekends), but it gives access to the beach (a bit rocky and murky, but people love it), two miles of beach trail, a few great restaurants. During non-summer season bring some wood and sit by the fire after subset, this is my favorite. If all the firepits are taken, just ask to join someone and contribute your wood.

This parking lot is always packed but great place to park if you want close access to the pier and nearby beaches, so arrive early. Metered spaces, pay at kiosk. Lot is frequently patrolled by local law enforcement for safety and traffic control.

we go to this pier all the time, parking is free i think after 5 pm and on weekends. this place has nice views, great coffee at Bear coast coffee and a nice long walk on the pier watching the surfers down below. Take my friends here when they are visiting us/town
